Veils. A Reading of Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s 'St. Agnes of Intercession'

This article focuses on Dante Gabriel Rossetti's short story 'St. Agnes of Intercession', analyzing how uncertainty shapes the text and its structure. By stressing Rossetti's attempt of writing a 'Vita Nova' for the Victorian age, I argue that the nineteenth century uses Dante's 'libello' and its powerful production of subjectivity as a frame in which to challenge the tensions of post-Enlightenment Subject.
