About

This research seeks to examine how climate change emerges as 'truth' within government and organizations and its transformative effect on subsequent knowledge and practices viewed through the lens of accounting.

The first part of the project looks at the role accounting has played in shaping the UK government’s climate change discourse and provides the context for understanding how it is subsequently adopted and engaged with by others this space.  On a theoretical level, the research aims to enhance our understanding of how accounting systems come to reflect, interpret and shape individual, organizational and broader societal values, both from within traditional firm boundaries and also beyond them.
