About
Alice Leonard specialises in Shakespeare, rhetoric and Renaissance language. She is researching for a PhD at Warwick University in the English and Comparative Literature Department under the supervision of Jonathan Bate and Thomas Docherty. Her thesis is titled: ‘Shakespeare Beyond Rhetoric’, exploring the moments of Shakespeare's language that move beyond the framework and strictures of rhetoric--the dominant theory of language in the Renaissance. Her research interests are in Shakespeare and early modern drama, Renaissance language and rhetoric, theories of editing, and literary theory. She completed a BA in English Literature and Philosophy and an MA in English Literature in Shakespeare: History and Theory at Cardiff University.
